How you make a difference:
The Dental Hygienist provides dental care and promotes dental health by performing a variety of tasks under the supervision of a licensed dentist. They assess patient needs, clean teeth, take and develop dental x-rays, and educate patients on proper oral hygiene. They adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and protocols related to dental hygiene and maintain accurate patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare treatment room and select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits.
Provide oral hygiene and postoperative instructions to patients and answer their questions.
Maintain and sterilize dental instruments, document dental hygiene services and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, and conserve dental resources.
Ensure proper functioning of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and evaluating new equipment and techniques
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygienist school
Experience
Two (2) years’ experience
Previous correctional/detention facility experience
Five (5) years’ experience
Licenses/Certifications
Unrestricted current Dental Hygiene license, certification or registration in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA
