This position will play a key role providing quality dental care at Promise Healthcare. The primary focus will be examining, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for infections and injuries to the teeth and mouth. The Dentist in this position must have an interest in delivering care in a community health center and a passion for creating a dental home for those underserved for dental care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide general and comprehensive dentistry services to children and adults
Assist with the development of clinical dental policies and procedures
Diagnosis and evaluate dental conditions and maintaining accurate dental records to support diagnosis/evaluation
Interpret x-rays and treat mouth diseases
Provide restorations and other treatment as needed
Perform emergency procedures on patients to reduce or eliminate pain
Assess treatment options and agree on treatment plan with patients
Instruct/educate patients in oral hygiene and dental care
Assist with the development and implementation of Dental Quality Assurance
Assist with training and evaluating assigned dental staff
Educates individuals in oral health-related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health-related disease prevention.
Expected to consistently work to ensure patient satisfaction and maintain positive relationships
Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissues contagious diseases and/or other potentially hazardous materials
Fine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skills
Excellent interpersonal and administrative management experience
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited dental school
Knowledge of public health principles and practices
Preferred 2 -4 years of experience in community health center or with underserved populations.
Current dental licensure for the state of Illinois is required
Must have valid driver's license, insurance, and transportation to other clinics as needed.
Bilingual (Spanish)language preferred

This position is a licensed oral health professional that provides educational, preventative, and clinical therapeutic services to the public. The Hygienist promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and disease; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess dental condition and needs of the patient including screening of head, neck, and oral cavity for disease
Responsible for dental prophylaxis, topical fluoride application, sealants, radiographs, patient education including oral health instruction and the plaque control program.
Providing routine preventive treatment for new and existing patients.
Accurate documentation and maintenance of patient records
Performs all hygiene functions according to policy and procedure
Accurately documents the patient's health history including allergies, current medications, surgeries, and new medical conditions
Responsible for taking necessary radiographs
Perform adult or child prophylaxis on all patient types
Apply fluoride varnish when indicated
Apply sealants when indicated
Perform periodontal scaling and root planning on patients diagnosed with periodontal disease
Apply chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of periodontal disease when indicated
Provide patient education so the patient understands the level of oral health existing in his/her mouth and address how to improve or continue to maintain the patient's best possible oral health, and document in clinical notes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Licensed in Illinois
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate physical exertion includes frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily in a clinical setting including Headstart/school locations.
Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Dental Operatory and equipment as well as usual office environment.
Ability to travel from clinic to clinic in own vehicle or dental van as required.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
