Education / Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. This position requires 5 years of experience in a dental practice with handling insurance benefits.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to sit for long periods. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Gather information concerning the insurance plans that you deal with on an ongoing basis.
• Payment information obtained on the EOB’s.
• Document basic insurance information in Dentrix for quick reference
• Determine insurance eligibility, limitations and payment estimate necessary to facilitate financial arrangements.
• Educate the patient to their responsibility regarding insurance, the true meaning of UCR and a basic understanding of insurance terminology.
• Process claims daily and mail or submit electronically within 24 hours.
• Research eligibility on all new patients prior to their appointment
• Monitor turnaround time on all claims for payment and predetermination. Follow up if the claim is outstanding at the end of the 4th week.
• Determine the need and send x-rays, charting, narratives, and documentation with the claim when applicable.
• Process and mail predetermination as requested by patient but schedule appointment for 4 weeks from date pre det. Is sent. Contact the patient to make financial arrangements.
• Call or correspond with insurance companies to resolve delays in payment, requests for additional information or to discuss treatment that has been denied coverage.
• Handle all inquiries concerning insurance on a daily basis.
