Description
The Dental Front Office Coordinator/Dental Assistant’s primary responsibility is providing exceptional customer service to patients and to work in conjunction with the front office and the clinical team to coordinate the day-to-day needs/demands of the office. This is a dual role position that includes working at the front desk and dental assisting. The Dental Front Office Coordinator/Dental Assistant will perform all general front office duties for the office. In addition to front office coordinating, the Dental Front Office Coordinator/Dental Assistant will perform clinical dental assisting to the doctors as needed. Some of the front office coordinator duties include: • Confirm appointments according to protocol and patient preferences. • Fill cancelled/rescheduled appointments assuring schedule is full and check the daily schedule for accuracy. • Scan patient forms into dental software and manage document center. • Greet and check patients in and out before and after treatment. • Answer incoming calls to include: new patient calls, emergencies, requesting records, and follow up. • Work closely with clinical staff and other front office staff to assure smooth flow of patient care. • Perform general front office duties and other duties as required. Some of the dental assistant’s duties include: • Welcoming and seating patients in treatment rooms • Assisting the dentist during procedures: This can include passing instruments, suctioning, and taking X-rays. • Sterilizing and stocking treatment rooms • Preparing treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols • Helping with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, and preparing materials • Assisting dental hygienists with procedures when necessary. Must be able to follow and apply established office policies and procedures. Must have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written. Must have ability to work front and back areas of dental office. Be capable of working effectively with doctors, staff members, and patients under varying conditions. Must be able to embrace differences among people and able to interact with internal staff as well as external contacts in a culturally competent and respectful manner. ***We use Dentrix and Dexis.
