𝐍𝐨 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 | 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 Cutbirth Family Dental is a local, family-owned dental practice focused on providing quality care to the Elgin, TX community 30 minutes east of Austin. We are located on the first floor of the historic O’Connor Building built in 1890 in downtown Elgin. Purpose The purpose of the Dental Assistant role is to assist the dentist and hygienists in providing efficient, high-quality dental care while ensuring that patients feel comfortable and well cared for. Dental Assistants play a key role in patient care and helping ensure a smooth flow of daily operations in the office. Primary Objectives The Dental Assistant’s primary objectives are to ensure patients: - Have a positive and comfortable experience during all visits. - Receive timely and accurate care, including preparations for dental procedures. - Understand necessary dental treatments, instructions, and post-care processes. - Are supported in maintaining oral health between visits through education and assistance. Required Skills The Dental Assistant position requires the following skills: - Dental Assistant certification or completion of an accredited dental assisting program - State licensure - Excellent manual dexterity and ability to assist during dental procedures - Strong communication and customer service skills - Mastery of dental terminology and procedures - Ability to assist in the use of standard dental office equipment and technology (e.g., x-ray machines, sterilization tools, etc.) - Familiarity with dental procedures, instruments, and materials - Strong teamwork and organizational skills - Proficiency with computers and office software (e.g., practice management software, Microsoft Office, etc.) - Current CPR and first aid certification - Ability to stay organized, anticipate the dentist’s needs, and maintain a clean and efficient workspace - Strong attention to detail and patient safety - Self-starter attitude that anticipates needs and addresses issues before they arise - Team player attitude who helps wherever it is needed, whether that is dumping trash, cleaning instruments, sweeping floors, etc. - To be successful in this practice, the assistant is strongly encouraged to be an active participant in local community events and activities by staying involved with the neighbors in this community and attending local events regularly Physical Demands The Dental Assistant must be able to - Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time - Move and assist with dental equipment, supplies, and instruments throughout the day - Position oneself to support dental procedures effectively - Occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds - Operate dental tools and instruments as necessary - Communicate clearly with patients about their dental health Hours This is an hourly position with a minimum of 32 hours per week in the office. Primary Duties Dental Assistants have a wide variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: - Preparing treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and materials are sterilized and ready for use - Assisting the dentist during procedures, including suction, instrument passing, and managing patient comfort - Taking x-rays and preparing diagnostic images - Sterilizing and maintaining dental equipment - Preparing and managing dental materials, including filling materials, impressions, and molds - Educating patients on post-treatment care and providing instructions for home care - Keeping accurate records of patient treatment, charting, and noting progress during appointments - Maintaining an organized schedule for patient treatments and coordinating follow-up care - Assisting in managing patient flow, ensuring patients are on schedule and the office is running smoothly - Helping patients feel comfortable by offering reassurance, explaining procedures, and addressing any concerns - Answering patient inquiries and scheduling follow-up appointments - Cleaning and disinfecting treatment areas between patients - Assisting with dental lab tasks, such as impressions or creating temporary crowns - Participating in morning huddles (Family Meals) to prepare for the day and communicate important patient information Compensation Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience. Range is $19-$24 per hour. Patient Confidentiality Maintaining patient confidentiality is crucial for ensuring patient trust and compliance with federal regulations. All Dental Assistants are expected to adhere to strict patient confidentiality rules, and enforce best practices to protect sensitive patient information at all times.
