Description

Roles and Responsibilities:  Performs dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning.  Provides comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages, including pediatric patients.  Provides routine and emergency dental services including general restorative procedures, crown and bridge construction, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.  Initiates and interprets x-ray and diagnostic tests.  Administers and prescribes anesthetics and medications.  Refers patients for specialty care, as appropriate.  Educates patients on oral health, hygiene practices, and preventive dental care.  Collaborates with Dental Hygienists and other dental professionals to ensure optimal patient care.  Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic dental/health record systems.  Collaborates with the Dental Director to maximize clinic productivity and scheduling procedures, and toward establishing guidelines for treatment and care.  Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement and Risk Management (QA/QI/RM) activities and initiatives. Utilizes reports from QA/QI/RM monitoring of quality measures to provide leadership for continuous quality improvement on the practice team. ________________________________________________________________________________ Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited dental program with a Doctor in Dental Surgery (DDS) or a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Current, valid, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Virginia Current, valid, unrestricted DEA license Basic Life Support (BLS) Qualifications (continued): Three years general dentistry experience preferred Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) experience preferred
