POSITION OVERVIEW As a Tier 2 Registered Dental Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of dental procedures and providing top-notch patient care. Your responsibilities will include assisting dentists and hygienists during various dental treatments, performing advanced chairside duties, and overseeing the organization and sterilization of dental instruments. Additionally, you will be involved in patient education, maintaining accurate patient records, and collaborating closely with other members of the dental team to deliver exceptional service. This position requires a high level of technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of dental care and professionalism. What You Will Do Readies patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patients. Supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials in compliance with the Dental Practice Act. Assembles instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area, positioning instruments for dentist’s access, suctioning, and passing instruments. Provides dental materials by selecting, mixing, and placing them on instruments and in the patient’s mouth. Produces diagnostic information by pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts. Ensures all x-rays are current and accurately labeled. Maintains patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations and cleaning and polishing removable appliances. Routinely conducts procedures such as bleaching, nightguards, crown deliveries, and suture removals. Assists dentists in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and an emergency telephone directory. Educates patients through the provision of oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions. Documents dental care services by charting in patient records and ensures periodontal charting is up to date, notifying the hygienist when necessary. Coordinates the office recall system with the hygienist, to ensure future appointments are scheduled before the patient leaves the operatory. Ensures all treatment plans and consent forms are signed and on file. Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operational integrity by ensuring the security and confidentiality of information. Ensures a safe and clean work environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and staff by following infection-control policies and protocols. Ensures dental equipment is operational by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and evaluating new equipment and techniques. Maintains dental supply inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies. Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish desired results. Maintains accurate records of all lab cases and conducts quality checks on lab work. Complete lab scripts, boxing and preparing. Schedules appointments according to provider time scheduling guidelines, fills gaps in the schedule and audits for accuracy. Participates in and assists with End of Day procedures, engages in downtime protocols, and ensures completion of the daily assigned checklist. Offers new assistants the chance to shadow and provide assistance as part of their training. Assists the team in cleaning the office (trash, floors, restrooms, instruments, etc.). All other duties as assigned. What You Will Have Must possess a valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in accordance with state regulations. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a dental assistant, preferably in a clinical setting. In-depth knowledge of dental procedures, tools, and diagnostics. Extensive experience and knowledge in taking dental radiographs (X-rays) and ensuring their accuracy and clarity. Thorough understanding of sterilization and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic clinical environment. Ability to efficiently organize and prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for dental procedures. Excellent interpersonal skills and a compassionate demeanor to provide exceptional patient care and comfort during treatments. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, hygienists, and other dental staff members. Proficient in maintaining accurate patient records, documenting treatment procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
