Job Summary: The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support during dental procedures. This role involves preparing patients, assisting the dentist during procedures, performing clinical and administrative tasks, and ensuring that the dental office operates smoothly. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Prepare patients for dental treatments and procedures. Ensure patients are comfortable and informed about the procedures being performed. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays). Clinical Assistance: Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures. Provide instruments and materials to the dentist as needed. Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment. Prepare and maintain dental instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Administrative Duties: Schedule patient appointments. Manage patient flow and ensure timely transitions between appointments. Handle patient inquiries and provide information about dental procedures. Process dental billing and insurance claims. Maintenance and Organization: Keep the dental operatory clean and well-organized. Follow infection control and OSHA guidelines. Monitor and maintain dental inventory. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dental team to ensure efficient patient care. Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and colleagues. Qualifications: State certification or licensing (if required by the state). CPR and First Aid certification. Strong understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and manage time effectively. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Proficiency in dental software and computer systems.
