Dental assistant Requirements: Must be a Registered Dental Assistant Work Experience (Minimum Needed): Minimum Required: 1 year Preferred: 5 years Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with patients to keep them confident and comfortable Xray certification Excellent dental literacy and ability to explain to patients that have a low to high dental IQ Skills (e.g. Level of Judgment Required, Ability to Direct, Work Independently, Multi-Task, etc.): Ability to direct other assistants, patients and providers to allow for a smooth schedule Can multi-task and be perspective off patient needs while assisting doctor Special Skills (e.g. Technical, Advanced): Literate in general computer skills in order to use dental software, spreadsheets, pdfs, word documents, etc Other (Communication Skills, Mechanical Aptitude, Math Skills, Learning Skills, or Other Specific Skills Required) Benefits: 401K Health Insurance Paid time Off Multiple Bonus Systems to increase take home pay Responsible for providing hands-on support to all providers and ensuring a safe and comfortable patient experience by prepping for patient appointments, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready before appointments, updating patient forms/charts, collecting necessary information such as radiographs, digital scans and photos, sterilizing and organizing dental operatories, maintaining all sterilization equipment and areas, overseeing and completing lab work, scheduling patient appointments and completing post-operative calls. Patient Management - Greets and welcomes patients into practice in a friendly manner and escorts them back to already prepared treatment rooms. Takes vitals and reviews or obtains health history while ensuring it is recorded accurately on dental software. Ensures patients are always attended to and makes an effort to get to know patients. Anticipates and assists dentist needs as well as patients by being observant and proactive. Gives patient instructions and demonstrates when necessary. Updates charts appropriately during procedure so that treatment is reflected accurately (including patient preferences) and completes all clinical notes accurately and promptly. Escorts patients from the treatment room to the front desk with appropriate information ready to complete an efficient hand-off and Makes sure any questions are answered before the patient leaves.. Monitors patient flow and directs the dentist to keep the schedule running smoothly. Makes the front desk aware when help is needed or the clinical team is running behind so they can communicate with the patients in reception. Keeps track of procedures/patients that require a post-op call and handles appropriately and independently. 2.Treatment Room Management and Sterilization - Treatment rooms and equipment are stocked, exceptionally clean, organized and prepared prior to appointments following office protocol and OSHA regulations. Making sure we are following proper infection control for the safety of our patients and ourselves. 3.Inventory Management - Monitors inventory and informs the lead dental assistant when we are running low on items and needing to order. 4.Records Management - Handles patient records in compliance with state and federal requirements, including the HIPAA privacy and security regulations. Accurately and promptly files patient information. Reviews and prepares necessary patient information for the next day’s patients and is consistently prepared for morning huddle according to morning huddle worksheet. Isolates areas in schedule that could be a challenge days in advance and communicates these areas to the front desk. 5.Office Participation - Helps in other areas of the office when necessary (periodontal charting, answering phones, scheduling patients, etc.), be an active participant in meetings, promote office culture and help teammates whenever necessary
