Description

We are a deaf friendly dental practice looking to hire a full-time hygienist fluent in ASL. If you have a strong background in ASL, we will consider working with you after conversational ASL is established. Proficiency with Dentrix and Dexis is a plus. o Review medical history o Discuss and look at any dental problems or complaints a patient may have o Take x-rays as needed – confirm with dental insurance benefits • Every 6 months for high caries risk or uncontrolled periodontal disease • Every 6-12 months for moderate caries risk or severe periodontal disease • Every 1-2 years for low caries and periodontal risk o Periodontal probing – Updated Chart every D4910 and annual D1110 o Perform regular prophylaxis, prophylaxis with anesthetic, and deep scaling o Understand the difference between a D1110, D1110 with anesthetic, D4910, D4341, D4342, D4346, and D4355 o Provide fluoride treatment when necessary o Child prophylaxis with fluoride o Give oral hygiene instructions as needed o Have the doctor perform an exam. Know the difference between periodic exams, limited exams, and comprehensive exams o Put treatment plan into computer or give written treatment plan to front office o Record treatment done that day o Record recommended treatment for next hygiene visit or doctor visit o Record any notes the doctor made during the exam o Disinfect treatment room and place instruments in ultrasonic cleaner o Keep patients in the chair until ready to dismiss o Inform the front office if a patient is going to proceed with any needed dental treatment or reason for not proceeding with dental treatment o Wipe down operatory o Carry any non-sterile instruments from the hygiene area back to sterilization to be sterilized o Set up for next patient o Bag instruments o Place and replace sealants
