Description

Piney Point Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is looking for a Senior Surgical Assistant focused on Oral Surgery to join our practice as a lead surgical assistant. We provide quality care to patients with a focus on developing lasting relationships that encourages patient to utilize us for all their oral surgery needs. We have a fast-paced and energetic environment where we pride ourselves in professionalism and team cohesion. We are an industry leader in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as we follow a patient-centric approach utilizing advanced technology with a team of highly skilled professionals who produce exceptional results. In this role you will be the lead Surgical assistant at our up-and-coming office in Cypress where you will be expected to lead the team to success. You will work closely with the oral surgeon to provide high quality care to patients in order to create a smooth and seamless surgery with excellent pre and post operative care. You will need to instruct and direct staff assistants to provide quality care for the patients as well as follow all protocols and procedures. You will be expected to follow oral and written instruction as well as ask questions in order to completely understand company flow. You will need to be well organized and pay high attention to details. This position comes with a competitive pay range as well as 401k benefits, medical insurance and paid time off. Oral Surgery Assistant Responsibilities: • Greet patients and address any concerns or questions they may have • Perform pre-surgical preparations for the patient and rooms • Set up surgical trays • Set up and monitor IV sedation under the direction of the oral surgeon • Assist the oral surgeon during surgery by providing suction, monitoring instruments, and swapping tools as necessary • Provide post-operative instruction to patients regarding healing and care • Operate x-ray and CBCT equipment efficiently • Disinfect, sterilize, and store equipment after use • Disinfect recovery rooms • Train new surgical assistants • Ensure proper documentation of procedures • Prepare schedule for other surgical assistants • Arrange equipment repairs and order supplies • Complete invoice reconciliations • Maintain inventory • Maintain a high level of safety, satisfaction and patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA • Keep the surgeon and team on schedule and adjust as needed • Seating patients and taking blood pressure Oral Surgery Assistant Requirements and Qualifications: • Prior dental assisting experience required in an oral surgery environment with IV sedation • A high school diploma or equivalent required • Completed an accredited Dental Assisting Program required • Complete a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Course • DAANCE (Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination) certification preferred • Received a Dental Assistant License through TSBDE required • X-ray certification required • Current CPR and/or BLS certification required • Must pass a criminal background check • Strong communications skills and a calm demeanor in stressful situations • Knowledge of surgical and operating room procedures, instruments as well as infection control protocols • Strong understanding of medications pertaining to oral surgery procedures • Understanding of oral anatomy with the ability to recognize simple oral conditions Benefits (Employee must be full-time to be eligible for benefits): • Competitive Salary Range • 401k with employer match • Medical Insurance • Paid Time Off • Holiday Pay • Professional development and growth opportunities • Employee discount • Company Sponsored training and events
