Job Title: Dental Assistant Dental office uses Dentrix Job Summary: The Dental Assistant is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dental assisting team, ensuring efficient patient care, assisting with dental procedures, maintaining equipment, and managing administrative tasks. This individual will support the dentist and the dental team, acting as a mentor for other dental assistants, ensuring proper sterilization protocols, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Support: Asist the dentist during various procedures, such as fillings, extractions, crowns, root canals, and other dental treatments. Prepare patients for treatment, including taking medical histories, ensuring comfort, and explaining procedures. Take and develop dental X-rays as needed. Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment according to health and safety regulations. Prepare dental materials and assist with the setting up and breakdown of treatment rooms. Leadership and Supervision: Supervise and provide guidance to dental assistants to ensure high-quality care and efficient work practices. Train and mentor new or less experienced dental assistants. Assign tasks and ensure they are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Monitor team performance and provide feedback as necessary. Patient Care and Communication: Greet and prepare patients for dental procedures, addressing any questions or concerns. Provide post-treatment care instructions and follow up with patients as needed. Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor, ensuring a positive patient experience. Office Management and Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate patient records, documenting treatment plans and progress. Assist with inventory control, ordering supplies, and ensuring that the office is well-stocked. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA regulations. Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office's daily calendar. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all dental equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and calibrated. Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate parties and assist with repairs when necessary. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a Texas RDA is required. BLS (Basic Life Support) or CPR certification required. Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience as a dental assistant, with a demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of dental procedures. Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Skills: Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of dental procedures. Strong leadership abilities and ability to manage a team effectively. Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of dental software and office management tools. Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Working Conditions: Full-time position with some flexibility, depending on the office schedule. Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient lifting or positioning. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform repetitive motions, such as assisting with dental procedures, sterilizing instruments, and managing equipment. Ability to lift and move dental equipment as needed.
