Clinical Dentist for Dental Hygiene Program
About the Position:
Valencia College is seeking an independent contracted Clinical Dentist to join our Dental Hygiene Program. This role is essential in supporting the hands-on training of our dental hygiene students, contributing to the mission of providing high-quality, practical education to future dental hygiene professionals. Valencia College’s Dental Hygiene program supports a fully functional dental hygiene clinic where students provide preventive dental hygiene services to the general public.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Dentist in our Dental Hygiene Clinic, you will play a vital role in supporting the College’s clinical support staff and instructional faculty. In addition, the supervising Dentist must be responsible for patient care oversight of the dental hygiene clinic and must:
Review and approve necessary patient care and administration of anesthesia under Florida Statute.
Participate in program meetings as required by the program chair to ensure understanding of clinic operating practices and procedures.
Engage in cooperative involvement with the program director.
Participate in program advisory boards.
Ensure educationally appropriate interaction of the dentist with students that support the mission and vision for instructional delivery at Valencia College.
Must maintain all liability and licensure status pursuant to Florida State Laws and Statutes relating to the delivery of dental care and dental hygiene instruction and understands that Valencia bears no responsibility for their coverage nor for claims involving professional liability.
Requirements:
Must be a dentist currently licensed and authorized to practice in the United States.
Demonstrated training or experience in providing dental care, with a proven track record of clinical competency.
Active membership in the local dental community, maintaining professional relationships and networks.
Familiarity with the field of dental hygiene education, including an understanding of professional, legislative, and regulatory issues relevant to the profession.
Additional information:
The salary for this role is a fixed fee paid directly to the Dentist on a per-semester basis.
The position is set to begin on January 6th, with scheduled hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
