Performing intraoral scans and taking prescribed radiographs.
Maintaining a sterile working environment by following current infection control procedures.
Sterilizing instruments and equipment according to OSHA standards.
Maintaining accurate patient treatment records.
Educating patients on the use and care of orthodontic appliances and providing clear instructions for home care.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a clinical or orthodontic setting is a plus, but not required.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and sterile environment.

He/she must also have an excellent working knowledge of instruments, types of restorative materials and methods used for the purpose of making impressions. Must have expert knowledge of oral and dental anatomy and must be able to chart the intraoral findings.
The Dental Assistant will be required to assist the dentist in oral surgery, operative dentistry, removable prosthodontics, radiology, endodontics, preventive procedures, and clerical duties. The duties of this position also require frequent direct contact with individuals in confinement who are suspected or convicted of offenses against the criminal laws of the United States. Exposure to potentially dangerous situations is an inherent part of this position.
All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Dental Assistant Services, and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The Dental Assistant shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with AAACH and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions.
The Dental Assistant's performance shall be monitored by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR). Must be able to work with Adults in Custody (AIC) population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
The Dental Assistant must possess the ability to collect and track data and enter data into the agency’s electronic system and track scheduling of patient care and must have knowledge and experience in maintaining patient medical records and confidentiality. The Dental Assistant will work with the CDO or his/her designee.
The Dental Assistant's responsibilities in each specialty are listed below:
*Oral Surgery*
• Seat the patient;
• Prepare anesthetic. Place topical anesthetic;
• Set up and break down the surgical tray;
