*Position Summary:*
The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist and dental hygienist in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients at the dental clinic. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.
*Clinical:*
* Explain treatment procedures; seek clarification and understanding from patient
* Review patient medical history
* Take patient radiographs as needed
* Assist provider throughout exam; including complex treatment and all operatory related care.
* Take impressions and fabricate temporary crowns as needed
* Prepare and record clinical notes and charting
* Prepare operatory for patient exam and treatment; sterilize instruments and disinfect operatory
* Complete and post patient charges
* Order and maintain dental supplies and materials as needed
* Other duties as assigned by Doctor to insure the efficient operation of the office
* Create patient treatments plans
*Patient Experience:*
* Establish rapport with patients by greeting them with a professional manner
* Resolve patient concerns; answer or seek to find answers to patient inquiries
* Assist in scheduling future appointments
* Educate patients in proper oral care and post treatment care
* Follow up courtesy calls to patients as needed
* Provide back up coverage for Front Desk to account for absences or high-volume periods
*Requirements:*
* Preference given to previous Dental Assistant or those with completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Knowledge of state dental practices requirements, including X-ray proficiency and OSHA training strongly preferred
* Effective interpersonal skills to maintain rapport with patients, dentists, and other staff members
* Ability to clearly present information to and answer questions from patients, supervisors and coworkers
* Good customer service skills and ability to work as a team in fast-paced environment
* Conceptual thinking abilities to recognize problems, collect data and draw valid conclusions
* Must be able to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
