Job Title: Dental Hygiene Coordinator Location: Lewis Dental Group Job Type: Full-time Reports to: Office Manager Job Overview: We are looking for a motivated, organized, and compassionate Dental Hygiene Coordinator to join our team. The Dental Hygiene Coordinator will play a key role in managing the daily operations of the hygiene department, ensuring a smooth workflow, and providing excellent patient care. This individual will coordinate appointments, manage hygiene schedules, assist with patient education, and help maintain high standards of care in the hygiene department. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and manage the daily schedule for all dental hygienists to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity. Schedule and confirm patient appointments for cleanings, periodontal therapy, and other hygiene-related treatments. Communicate with patients to provide pre-appointment instructions, reminders, and follow-up information. Assist in educating patients on the importance of oral health and maintaining regular hygiene visits. Handle patient inquiries regarding treatment plans, insurance coverage, and billing related to hygiene services. Ensure that patient records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with HIPAA regulations. Monitor and manage patient flow, ensuring timely and effective treatments. Work closely with the dental team to ensure seamless communication and care between hygienists, dentists, and administrative staff. Maintain inventory and order supplies necessary for the hygiene department, ensuring stock levels are sufficient. Assist with patient check-in/check-out, including verifying insurance information, collecting payments, and managing financial transactions. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional environment for both patients and staff. Handle other administrative tasks as needed to support the smooth operation of the practice. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or certification in dental assisting or related field preferred. Previous experience in a dental office, preferably in a coordination, administrative, or hygiene-related role. Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance processing. Familiarity with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is a plus. Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients, staff, and providers. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards. Compassionate and customer-oriented, with a passion for promoting oral health and patient education. Preferred Skills: Certification or background in dental assisting or dental hygiene. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
