Places it and fissure sealants as prescribed by the dentist. Relays to patient’s post-operative instructions, disease prevention techniques, and home care instructions. Knowledge of all instruments, materials, and procedures normally used in all phases of restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgical, endodontic and periodontal treatment. Knowledge of dental anatomy and ability to properly expose and mount diagnostic radiographs. Ability to explain to patient’s post-operative instructions, disease prevention techniques, and home care instructions. Knowledge of steps and techniques required for the placement of sealants on teeth. Knowledge and skill of tooth isolation techniques required to maintain a dry field of placement of restorations and sealants. Knowledge of sterilization techniques. Recommend and refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Purchased Referred Care vendors within appropriate IHS guidelines. Electronically document services utilizing the appropriate electronic medical record system for patient encounters; complete all required administrative paperwork within 24- hours of patient visit to include electronic consults, co-signatures, completion of chart or Risk Management Reviews, unusual occurrences and peer review, as required. Provide consultation to the Hospital Emergency Department heath care providers on an as needed basis. Provide dental services as needed, make preliminary diagnoses direct, prescribe or provide treatment or arrange for specialized dental care or patient referral as required, following Indian Health Services guidelines for referrals. Must possess a current DDS or DMD license. Must be residency trained in their specialty. Must be Medical Board Certified in their specialty. Dentist shall apply and be accepted as clinic/hospital associate member of on-site Medical Staff. Shall have a current DEA license. Rubella immunity must be documented either by serologic test or proof of immunization A yearly PPD is required for all persons who have had no previous positive tuberculin skin test A series of three (3) Hepatitis B immunizations or serologic proof of past infection is required A yearly influenza vaccination COVID-19 vaccination and necessary boosters to maintain vaccinated status May be required to work after hours and weekend clinic to meet the needs of the communities we serve.Dentist

JOB TITLE: Circulating Surgical Assistant DATE: REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor/Office Manager/Office Doctor FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY: As a circulating surgical assistant, you will work closely with various OMA doctors to perform a variety of different oral surgery procedures at each location as needed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the practice. • Adheres to OMA policies, procedures, including those set out in the employee manual, in performing job duties and responsibilities. • Communicates effectively, respectfully, and courteously with patients, visitors, doctors, and co-workers. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for performing the following: • Answering patient questions before and after appointments • Preparing patients for oral surgery procedures by making them comfortable and providing any instructions • Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment, and placing for easy access • Preparing the operatory and exam room for use by the OMA doctor by making sure it is stocked, organized and clean. • Assisting the OMA doctor during procedures, including passing instruments, getting supplies, and using the suction tube to keep the patient’s mouth dry. • Monitoring oxygen, vitals and IV fluids during oral surgery procedures • Assisting with dental x-rays and dental impressions • Assisting with dental lab work and checking in lab cases • Recovering patients and instructing patient’s driver for post-operative care • Making post-operative calls to patients 24 hours after surgery • Scheduling follow-ups and surgical appointments • Keeping patient records • Drawing up drugs while checking expiration and date and performing daily drug count • Printing daily PMP reports for all scheduled surgery patients. • Reviewing treatment with OMA doctor and entering treatment plans • Reviewing surgical charts for consents, accuracy of treatment plan and patient health history and allergies • Presenting prescription requests to doctor and calling in prescriptions as needed. • Obtain and maintain all certifications (IV Therapy, CPR and First Aid, X-Ray, Nitrous Oxide and DAANCE) Performs other duties as requested by Clinical Team Leader, Office Manager and/or Doctor Manager. Works with OMA Doctor Manager and Senior Manager concerning budgetary guidelines and KPI Attends monthly leadership meetings Performs other duties as assigned by Practice Executive or Doctor Manager.
